How are you giving back this holiday season? We found a young teen who gives back all year. We got an email from a viewer who said we should check out what a 13-year-old South Jersey girl is doing. So we did -- and we discovered she's helping needy kids and adults in a remarkable way.
Look at the clothes 13-year-old Katelyn Eystad has collected.
"I started this back in July, so we've had a great response," said Katelyn.
From newborns to men's big and tall; purses, shoes, and jackets; all for needy families in Pitman, New Jersey and all absolutely free.
She asked friends, teachers and family to help, and it grew from there.
"A lot of the stuff we get is brand new," said Katelyn.
Helping others is not new for Katelyn. Her mother Elissa says Katelyn often thinks of others before herself.
"She's always looking to give back to other people, and this was just a great thing she came up with," said Elissa.
There are even new holiday dresses just in time for the season.
The 7th grade Pitman Middle School student says she got the idea for Angels Of God Clothing Closet when her family lost everything.
"A few years back we had a house fire, so I know what it's like to be in need of clothing and struggle like that," said Katelyn.
Tina Marie is a single mother getting out of an abusive marriage. She says Angels of God is heaven sent.
"For a little girl to sit and think of a concept like this for people she doesn't know? I think it's spectacular," said Tina Marie.
While we were there, more donations came in for Katelyn's Angels Of God Clothing Closet, an appropriate name not only for the store, but the 13-year-old girl who started it.
"Helping others is absolutely great! It gives you a wonderful feeling," said Katelyn.
To shop at Angels of God, you need a referral letter from a church, social services or a teacher.
If you want to donate, the items must be in good condition, with no rips or holes.
